The Brussels Energy Club will participate in the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018–2028, taking place from 25–28 May 2026 in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.

The conference, organized by the Government of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations and international partners, will bring together high-level stakeholders, including governments, United Nations agencies, international organizations, academia, civil society, and the private sector. The conference provides an important international policy platform for the discussion of innovative solutions and strengthening global partnerships for addressing water-related challenges.

This event represents one of the world’s leading global platforms dedicated to advancing sustainable water management, international cooperation, bolstering implementation of the Water Action Decade, building on the four work streams of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Action Plan for the Water Action Decade 2018-2028 and the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation for everyone by 2030.

The 4th Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference will build on the success of previous editions and will serve as a key preparatory meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference co-hosted by the Republic of Senegal and the United Arab Emirates. This international forum will provide the framework to conduct an informal consultation with stakeholders for the UN 2028 Water Conference that will serve as the final comprehensive review of the Water Action Decade 2018-2028 and an initial discussion on the way forward, including post-2030.

Brussels Energy Club remains at the forefront of cooperation in the energy sphere with Tajikistan and Central Asia more broadly. The water-energy nexus remains critical for the sustainable development and green transition of the Central Asian region.
