Nurlan Kapenov

Nurlan Kapenov was born on February 2, 1978, a Kazakh, a native of Pavlodar region, Kazakhstan. In 2000 he graduated from the Kazakh-American College of Economics and Humanities (currently Kazakh-American Free University). His specialty is economics and management. Qualifications: Manager – Economist (Kazakh Diploma), Business Administration (US Diploma). In 2016 he graduated from Taraz State University with a degree of bachelor in Power Engineering.

Nurlan began his career in 2000 and until 2003 he worked in the city of Astana at Ai-Su Corporation in various positions from sales manager to the First deputy of General director. The company was engaged in industrial and civil construction.

From 2003 to 2009 worked in the city of Atyrau as the General Director of SpetsStroyEngineering LLP and AtyrauZhilStroyIndustriya LLP, also in the field of industrial and civil construction.

From 2010 to 2014, he began working in the structure of Samruk-Energy JSC from the position of Chief Manager of the Corporate Governance and Prospective Development Department to the position of Deputy General Director of Samruk-Green Energy LLP (100% subsidiary of Samruk-Energy JSC).
From 2014 to 2021, he worked as the General Director of the Kazakh-British joint venture Samruk Kazyna - United Green LLP (51% of British company United Green, 49% of Samruk - Kazyna Invest LLP), engaged in the implementation of renewable energy projects. Nurlan was appointed to this position from the British side.

Nurlan made a significant contribution to the development of the energy industry, especially to projects for the use of renewable energy sources. In 2019, with the participation of N. Kapenov, a foreign investor and a global manufacturer of solar panels Risen Energy completed two major projects, the construction of the Gulshat Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 40 MW in the Karaganda region and the construction of the Sholakkorgan Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 50 MW in the Turkestan region".

With the participation of N. Kapenov, foreign direct investment was attracted to the economy of Kazakhstan in the amount of more than 110 million US dollars in the development of green energy in the country. The total portfolio of renewable energy projects, in which N. Kapenov was involved as a project manager or developer, is more than 315 million US dollars or more than 400MW of installed capacity of renewable power plants.

Starting from 2018 till the present day, N. Kapenov is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Association “Qazaq Green”. Qazaq Green Association is a single platform for local and international players in the green energy industry, which brings together developers, investors, producers of equipment, international financial institutions, and other stakeholders who are involved in the green sector of Kazakhstan.

Nurlan Kapenov has made a great contribution to the development of the "green economy" of Kazakhstan, and has proven himself to be a highly qualified, technically competent leader in the field of energy, able to apply the most progressive working methods and is a leader in the field of renewable energy sources.
