Aidit Erkin

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the EU

Aidit Erkin is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Belgium since November 2022. With a strong background in international relations and diplomacy, Aidit has held several significant positions throughout his career.

From June 2020 to November 2022, he served as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation, where he contributed to fostering bilateral relations between the two countries. Prior to that, Mr. Erkin served as the Deputy Head of the Department on Foreign Policy in the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. His experience also includes being the Director of the International Law Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation.

Before that, he represented his country at the United Nations Office in Geneva as a Counsellor from January 2013 to May 2015. His earlier positions include serving as the Head of Division, Deputy Director, and Director of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and as an Attaché, Third Secretary, Second Secretary, First Secretary, and Counsellor at the International Law Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Aidit holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the International University of Kyrgyzstan, which he obtained in July 1997, and a Master of Laws degree from the same institution, completed in July 1999.
